Which one Are You?? A Admin User Or Standard User🙄🤔
Windows 10 allows two user accounts to be created. You can create an administrator account and a standard user account. The following account is also known as the Guest User Account (Guest). Most users never pay attention to this. So what is the difference between a standard user account and administrator in Windows 10?
Standard Account
With a standard user account, you can access the computer, but cannot make any major changes to that account. For example, new applications cannot be run or installed, but current applications can be run.
This means that standard accounts help protect the computer by preventing users from making the changes that affect the computer, such as deleting the files needed to work. If you are in a standard account (non-admin user), you should be able to perform the following functions on Windows 10.
- You can easily change your computer’s display settings as you need, but cannot adjust font size or anything in depth.
- You can run all the installed applications without configuring them.
- You can connect to wireless networks like Bluetooth and infrared connectivity.
- It will be easier for you to burn data on the CD and DVD.
5. You can copy files to be shared on the network for which you have rights.
These are the default functions that standard users can display on Windows computers, but the Windows version has more access to standard users with progress. New facilities are very simple and come with less risky tasks. Today, if used on Windows 7 or later, standard users can also perform the following tasks:
- Easy to edit the clock and system calendar.
- Time zone can be easily changed.
- 3. Power management settings can be adjusted.
- 4. It is very easy to activate and configure windows sidebar.
- 5. With the latest operating system, new Windows updates can be updated quickly.
- 6. Install ActiveX controls from websites approved by your IT administrator.
- 7. Users can add printers and other devices to the computer that the system driver needs access.
- 8. Virtual private network connection can be created and configured.
- 9. You can set wireless security such as WEP, WPA and WPA2 to connect to wireless networks. Standard users are banned from installing most applications and drivers on Windows by default.
Furthermore, they cannot perform any system changes and administrative functions.
Note: Standard users cannot access files owned by other users on the same system.
Administrator Account
With the administrator user account, you can access and control the entire computer. such as removing apps, creating or removing user accounts, changing permissions on user accounts, etc.
This means that the administrator account can perform any configuration related work on the computer. In addition to the administrator, the single operating system is the most powerful feature on the kernel computer system. The kernel can disable administrative actions such as a system or boot partition. Administrator account holder can make any changes to the system, such as:
1. Can install the application.
2. Easily delete and add user accounts.
3. Firewall settings such as file, printer, media sharing, remote desktop administration and other related settings can be easily changed.
4. Parent control attribute can be configured.
5. The ability to limit media ratings can be easily changed.
6. Users can also back up and restore files on the computer.
7. Visual effects can be easily changed because the system’s functioning is affected.
There are many different administrative privileges which are managed by the Administrator Account. If you are new to the administrator account for the first time, you should spend a few minutes in the configuration dialog and see what else you can set up.
Running computer activities with admin privileges can increase the attack of malware and hackers. To reduce these threats, when using the administrator account on a Windows computer, you need user account control to enhance computer security. Additionally, even if you log in from the administrator account, most applications are actually run with standard user permission.
This will ensure that the computer system will not be attacked by malware while running various programs or functions. From a security standpoint, limited access to a standard user account helps.
A user with a standard account can usually work on a computer. You can edit Microsoft Office files, surf the web, edit photos, etc. However, standard users will be limited when editing system files.
Standard users are not allowed to create, edit, view, or delete system files. System files are files that are required and often important for the functioning of the Windows operating system. To edit these files, you need permissions as an administrator account. Standard users cannot access other user’s files on the same system. Only files that are shared publicly can be accessed or files can be created themselves. This is the best way to secure your data.
The ability to change settings system-wide. For example, you do not change the Windows password and create a new standard user account or administrator account.
Additionally, standard users are not allowed to install new applications or run a specific application already on the computer. Some people think this is a harmful thing but it is done to protect your computer from malware and viruses that are often installed without your permission.
Note: We do not refer to Microsoft accounts here. Microsoft account and local account are separate. By default, Microsoft Accounts allows users to use other Microsoft apps without signing each time and sync everything in devices using the cloud.
Most Windows 10 users believe it is better to use a computer with an administrator account. You will have full access to apps, functions, and Power Shell commands. But in fact, users should not use the admin account. One of the reasons you should use a computer with a standard account as mentioned earlier is that hackers avoid installing unwanted applications on the system.
Using a standard user account can help protect sensitive data. You can also protect your computer from bad applications and programs that often install when you click on links to the network and email. It is a powerful security facility often overlooked.
Never delete the admin account or you will be locked out. That’s because you cannot create an administrator account with a standard account.
